ALUSB 2018

In-house Design ALU Education/ Mauritius/ Rwanda Event Branding  Creative Direction

Since 2015, the African Leadership University (ALU) has been building educational institutions across Africa. As the in-house designer of the Mauritius campus, I created design concepts that continue to serve the institution. All of these concepts were based on The ALU Step Device, which was first introduced to ALU’s visual identity system by The Lattitude Group, a design agency based in Johannesburg. ALU’s School of Business held its the first graduation ceremony in 2018. Given that this was a major milestone for the institution, my aim was to create a memorable brand for the graduating class. The event tag line, “Building Leaders for the African Century” is matched with a typographic “Class of 2018” logo. These supplement each other as the core elements of the brand identity. The enclosing rectangular frames on both logos capture the idea of grouping together the first community of leaders “building the African Century.”
